■ About Aquirax Uno
Aquirax Uno (born in Nagoya in 1934) is a master who pioneered the field of graphic design and illustration in postwar Japan. He is internationally acclaimed for his fantastical and alluring depictions of girls and his poetic style reminiscent of surrealism. From the 1960s, he became active in theater posters, book design, and advertising, creating numerous masterpieces, including posters for Juro Kara's "Jokyo Gekijo" (Situation Theatre). He received the Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon in 1999. He has held numerous solo and retrospective exhibitions at major museums both domestically and internationally, including the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art, Gunma.
